I read about the Auschwitz doctor guy one time, the guy accused of freakish medical experimentation. I honestly couldn't find much solid info about the guy other than reams of sensationalist tabloid claims. my rule is whenever someone's nickname is in the form "The x of y" most of the info about them is bullshit. in this case he was called the angel of death. apparently he fled to Argentina and wrote a diary but I couldn't find any copies of it or what he said. I guess similar to Rudolf Hess who was kept in prison for decades after the war and there was total information firewall around him to prevent anybody hearing what he might say

@augustus probably the best attempt at this would be trying to find the war crimes tribunals data from france, nurenberg, hages, whatever the fuck all the places where they held war crime trials at, and try to find the ones related to doctors/inmates/medical/science stuffofc, good luck finding that shit, i dont feel like i could be botheredfirst id have to figure out WHERE these war crime trials existed, and WHEN, and then WHO at each of them, make lists of known and lesser known nazi and nazi-affiliate doctors, and then hope there's transcripts or summaries or other court documents somewhere, which are probably only in like central-central libraries in the country (not mine, UK or US or Germany or France) on paper, etc etcor maybe some are online, who knows but the seeker of truth

@lebronjames75 he successfully fled though so they never got him, I suspect this is one of the reasons why the accused crimes are so inflated. he may have been an actual monster for all I know, but I don't exactly trust the side accusing him either, so fuck knows

@augustus they (several nazi(-affiliated) doctors) did commit atrocities, a lot of those who were convicted, so one that got away and is related to a great atrocity, is definitely ok to extrapolate that he -at least- commited similar atrocities. unfortunately, since it's gonna forever be an "unprovable" "whoknows" kind of person and topic combination, the answer for this specific person at best will forever be "Mengele very likely did commit at least some of the atrocities he has been accused of."which is a completely useless statement, because it fuels both sides of the argument and answers nothing. (there may or may not be a teapot floating in space right now) especially because sensationalism (the thing that makes the message do numbers) and shades of gray (the thing reality is often made out of) dont go together. Sensationalism seems to have removed all details from his existance, and the telephone game seems to have muddied all data that couldve been true in the sensationalized data about him. which ties back into the useless statement i just made at the end of the first paragraphwhile writing this like 5 poasties made the exact same post in this thread, and i hope you havent muted the thread before you see this reply
