I have unfortunately decided that weeaboo.space will be shutting down. And this post serves as the initial announcement.There's multiple reasons for this, but chief among them is probably the simple fact that I'm not that heavy of a microblogging user anymore.My current plan is to shut weeaboo.space down sometime in May. I will send a bulk mail out to all registered E-mail addresses once I've decided on the exact date and figured out the path forwards, which I hope to do sometime in the coming week.

For those interested in following me personally, I will still have a presence on the fediverse. But haven't yet decided if it will be on another instance, or my own single-user instance. Knowing myself, I'll probably end up with a single-user instance as I'm kinda nuts about self-hosting all the things I use.Feel free to reply with any questions, be be aware that I have not yet decided on an exact shutdown time, nor where I will be moving after.

Feel free to ping me with your new account whenever you've found one and I'll follow you when I get around to moving myself.While I don't remember the exact date, weeaboo.space's domain was registered in April 2018 and I'm fairly certain the instance was live within a week of the domain's purchase. So we were one month short of our 5 year anniversary. Although I guess it will have passed before I pull the plug.

@benis @Shiroyasha I mean one of the main reasons I like self-hosting shit is because I live in western norway, where all traffic is routed through Oslo and then Stockholm. Anything not also hosted in Norway never feels snappy. Internet-wise western Norway is essentially just Stockholm but with 20ms extra ping.Hence why I like self-hosting. I can't really get snappy sites that load in under half a second otherwise.
