Of course the stigma is there. Don’t know how many fellow veterans I’ve had to almost “strong arm” into counseling because they were thinkin’ if they do that, it means they’re weak and so on. You know, big, tough combat veteran friends of mine who don’t want people to think they ever cry. Bullshit. When you need to talk to someone, you need to do it. You need to cry, then just do it. @BrianJopek My spin is that stubbornness to not seek help is weakness. Or to put it another way, seeking help is brave because you are being vulnerable on purpose which is strong.I 100% agree that counseling needs to be destigmatized and I try to advocate that way all the time. The world is hard, getting help is not a failure but a step to success. Not seeking help when it would be beneficial is the failure.
