@ivory Hi, I sent an email a bit back trying to figure out if an issue I’m seeing is an Ivory bug or an issue or an issue with my server. Is there a better way for me to contact you?

@misty Email is usually the best, but we are getting so many emails it's just hard to stay on top of it all the time. You can try asking here during the week as well. We try to take a break during the weekend and holidays. 🙂

@ivory Thanks! I’m sure you get enough it’s hard to keep on top. I’m seeing media from my instance not playing. It works in the web interface and it works once it fédérâtes to other instances, but Ivory can’t play it back. I can’t tell if this is an Ivory bug or a server bug.

@misty Can you send any links to example posts that don't work?

@ivory Here’s an example. https://digipres.club/@bitsgalore/109914450742924054It works once that media fédérâtes to a different server, so someone on a different instance that follows a user from this server can see the media.

@misty Paul seems to think it's a server issue. Have you tried another app like IceCubesApp? Always helpful to check if another app has the same issue or not.

@ivory I run the server - any advice on what the server is serving wrong? I can try to fix it if he’s got any ideas what it could be.

@ivory Looks like it plays in Ice Cubes but not Toot. Interesting.

@ivory Thank you! I’ll also try to access the post from the API on my end to see what I can figure out.

@ivory Is there a specific status API you recommend I try to verify via? The `media_attachments.url` in the single status response looks okay.

@ivory Sorry to bug you again. Any suggestions or ideas from your end? The APIs I’ve checked on my end look okay.

@misty @ivory Hi - I used a proxy to inspect the requests, and I think I've found the discrepancy. The Ivory client is sending a HTTP range request asking for the first byte: 'range: bytes=0-1'But the digipres.club server is ignoring the range request and returning the whole file rather than the first byte. The server does not appear to be saying it supports range requests ('Accept-Ranges: bytes'), so Ivory appears to be assuming that range requests are supported when they are not.

@anj @ivory Interesting. Suggests I’ve miscomfifired something in our proxy but, even then, that sounds like an Ivory bug too.

@ivory @anj Confirmed! That fixed it, thank you!So - it *is* a bug/quirk I guess, but in AppleCoreMedia rather than Ivory? But this is easy enough to fix in my server.
