I’m annoyed that the Pärla Pro toothpaste tabs are actually very good, given they’re so bloody expensive 🙄

@nickycolman @awesomeknight I’ve done some research 🤓 and compared the ingredients of Parla Pro and NoWa (their closest rival I could find). Both have Hydroxypatite (the special ingredient that repairs enamel and reduces sensitivity) BUT Parla has 2 extras:Mica, an abrasive to add more whitening/shinePotassium Citrate, also reduces sensitivitySo there is definitely a difference and likely benefit in Parla Pro over NoWa, but they’re also twice the price. I do feel my teeth were whiter after using Pros for a couple of days vs others but expensive. I’m going to give NoWa another week or two and see if I’m happy with the whiteness (in case it takes a while to build) but if not I’ll probably fork out for a Parla pro subscription 🦷

@steeble @awesomeknight oh you’ve done your research alright! Ha! I think more players need to come into the market to drive the price down. Right now, it’s sold as special product whereas I’d hope for tablets to become the default. I’m not sure why they don’t sell them in matchboxes! Seems ideal.

@nickycolman @awesomeknight Absolutely, hopefully it won’t be long before another manufacturer replicates the Parla Pros (the ones I’m testing aren’t far off tbf) and hopefully that’ll bring the price down. I think the “affordable” ones (like <£3 a month, eg brushd) need to do a bit better with whitening to break through to the masses given basic whitening toothpaste is so standard. The sample I got came in a nice slidey tin, those would work well in retail I reckon. There needs to be some sort of barrier to moisture to stop them going soft etc, I wonder if there’s a sustainable disposable material that could be used for packaging for small retail packs 🤔
