The New Yankee Workshop, hosted by legendary craftsman Norm Abram, has recently made its YouTube debut -- offering free, full-length episodes. What's more, using AI-enabled software, they've been able to upscale some of the episodes into HD. It's not perfect, but if it means a new generation gets to enjoy Norm, we're onboard.https://hackaday.com/2023/03/02/norm-abram-is-back-and-thanks-to-ai-now-in-hd/

@hackaday I'll be honest, I vastly prefer a regular bilinear or bicubic upscale.I gave the AI video upscaling technologies a fair trial and experimented with them a bunch, but the results are *really* distracting to watch. They all seem to suffer from significant edge ringing and temporal issues like shimmering, which is quite fatiguing to watch. Objects in the background end up with inconsistent focus and detail, and people's eyes tend to track poorly. It just looks bad.
