@stux Certainly a jet engine is loud but if they where doing a low pass they were not a high speed or breaking the sound barrier, then is loud enough to destroy windows.

@stux @Artemis201 I've seen/heard the same here in England, random military aircrafts flying low over suburban/residential areas. (you can often view them on ADS-B tracker. A friend in Czechia reported similar yesterday.I suspect its NATO training exercises which aren't too surprising given the current global situation..

@stux we get low flying training about once a year. Local social media always goes nuts. I think it’s Eurofighters coming off the derwent reservoirs, following the same historical route the Dambusters training took.

@stux With the attack on Ukraine the military traffic has of course increased remarkably over the whole of Europe. - Here at the Baltic we hear and see all kinds of aircaft travelling by and exercises are a daily matter (plus sorties to accompany and watch russian military aircraift over the international areas of the Baltic). - Reminds me of times back at school when the old iron curtain was still up and we where used to jets doing fighting exercises in the sky over Schleswig-Holstein ...

@stux My guess is training using visual flying rules and using landmarks for navigation when instruments fail. They shouldn't be flying only 30m above the ground though, more like 150m or so

@stux If you are in the US normally the minimum flight altitude is 500 ft. in a low population density area. They are legally allowed to fly lower with approved flight plans (probably). We have them fly over us at about 300 feet, on occasion.
