One of the weirdest things that's ever happened to me was having the opportunity to tell the original manufacturers of the Utah Teapot that their teapot was famous: https://mjg59.dreamwidth.org/47320.html

(Although I should warn you that, as a teapot, it is very much not state of the art)

@mjg59 Well, I use it almost every day and after a few times I manage to pour tea with almost no dripping. So still pretty decent, what are you missing?

@schmittlauch A seal between the lid and the pot to reduce heat loss, an included strainer to make it easier to brew loose-leaf tea, a spout that's good at not dripping even if you haven't spent a few days practicing?

@mjg59 Valid points, though e.g the strainer might be controversial. There are avid tea snobs with strong opinions of even a metal strainer limiting the infusion too much. I use metal srainers myself, but actually see it as an advantage to have 2 separate ones to keep one green tea around for a 2nd brew while making another one.Not dripping is hard, but yes, I've seen some pots doing better.

@mjg59 Checking my email archive I notice that I ordered my Friesland Teekanne in April 2017, so it must have been after seeing you writing about it.

@mjg59 Now they just need to produce a squashed version to match the modified 3D model...

@mjg59 Not sure if I missed it somewhere on the page you linked, but I'd like to know how you told them and how they reacted. Also, it's a pity that the flat-shaded polygonal version (which you linked in one of your replies) is sold out, but given how much it costs, maybe I should be glad about it, because I don't have to make a decision if it's worth to buy (which it probably isn't since I don't need a teapot at all).

@mjg59 Time to buy a few mirrored balls, coloured spotlights and checkerboard tiles to go with it?
