       @internetarchive @neilhimself I've been working in a library (scientific) for 21 years and I know "publishers" are evil. EVIL! I think there's a special place reserved in you know where...etc.Just saying. I'm completely unbiased, I swear!

       @mike805 @UserUser @internetarchive @neilhimself But in both cases, the music recording and film industries were saved not with legal remedies but business model changeups (i.e. selling optical discs -> streaming over the internet). Also, niche publishers like PM Press (which is an anarchist publisher) are doing well by selling DRM-free books. It's just the mainstream publishers who are failing.

       @internetarchive @neilhimself With the pricing and circulation restrictions on digital books it will be only a matter of time before people realize what corporate publishers are doing. The governments that fund libraries are spending their money through support to libraries for this fiasco. And remember when you buy a book you can lend it to your friends and family; not the case with a digital copy. Just think about that.
