@MiaWinter @cleo @puniko to be fair, they had been working on the project for a while, but had to release it in a less than complete state because of the shutdown of Twitter API.I really don't think that this is a master plan to undermine the open web or something

@cleo @MiaWinter @puniko so maybe I'm being overly generous - I saw it as "we're doing our best to provide a good experience, and that means we're restricting things to servers we can test on, as we grow."But @ivory @paul is a human being and can definitely respond for himself.I've used tapbots products back when I was on IOS and I never felt there was an intentional attempt to make a lesser user experience ever

But the server-to-client API between Mastodon and Akkoma is slightly different. Meaning that as long as you support normal masto api, according to mastos specs, akkoma works too, but they are breaking mastos specs by trying to parse a string as a int. Which doesnt work on akkoma. But on masto. Read the full threads please, toot! Had the same issue back in the day. But today the spec is like this and ivory doesnt hold on to it.

@MiaWinter @adora @cleo @puniko Why would we not want more users using our app? It makes no sense just to limit our app to Mastodon if it was easy to allow other services to work. The fact is, we just don't have the time and resources to fix every problem at once. We have a million things on our plate and only 1 developer that can work on these things. All we want to do is make the best product we can that as many people possible can enjoy using it. But it's going to take us time.

@MiaWinter @adora @cleo @puniko This couldn't be further from the truth. Ivory currently is based off of Tweetbot which is built upon the notion that posts have unique numeric ID's. Any system that uses alphanumeric ID's currently just don't work in Ivory on a technical level. We have to put a lot of time to get that to work correctly and we will be looking into it when we do have more time.

@cleo @MiaWinter @adora I guess in the end, I'm just asking for some patience and grace. We have no ill intentions or negligence. We are just a couple people who love making fun software that people appreciate and want to pay for so we can make a living continuing to do it. This year will be tough, but things will get better and we will just keep pushing forward to make our app as good as we can make it. The post ID issues will get addressed eventually. 🙂

@MiaWinter @adora @cleo @puniko No they don’t block those things. Pleroma, Akkoma, Rebased don’t 100% comply with the Mastodon v1 API. They’re tackling the most popular platform first (Mastodon), then they’ll get to us. You have plenty of client options like Toot! And MetaText. Ivory will get there in time.

@chidgey @cleo "no they don't block those things" *the app has literally a popup that says "no i only accept mastodon"* And as already pointed out in this thread, the reason stuff doesn't work with Ivory is because they falsely assume id's are stringified ints, which is not the mastodon spec, so while all of these work on many other mastodon apps, they don't work on ivory

@MiaWinter @cleo I think the issue is our interpretation of the word “block”. There are dictionaries for this purpose. Either way I look forward to being able to use Ivory in future with my Pleroma SUI, but I’m patient and am happy to wait.
