Why label it anything else but xylitol? This might end up getting a few dogs killed. It would probably take years for dog owners to find out about this.

@RandomUserName It sucks and has already been a thing. I honestly did not realize how many are still not aware until today. Hopefully it gets around. Also, I have no idea. Companies rename ingredients so often I tend to not eat anything premade or feed my animals anything unless I make it myself. Not to mention peanut butter is not really good for them in the first place. 😕

@TikToc @Syberia nothing good is right.xylan is extracted from wood pulp, or agricultural waste from corn wheat rice processing,xylan polymers are hydrolyzed into xylose, and then that is catalytically hydrogenated into xylitol. The conversion changes the sugar (xylose, an aldehyde) into the primary alcohol, xylitol.it's indigestible to humans, unless in natural form like strawberries, pumpkins, plums.liver doesn't know what to do with it, causes intestinal bloating, cramping, or #3..

@Syberia Sugarless gum is one we see a the vet hosp. Terrible stuff. Even some children's antihistamines...Many melatonin to dogs for calming or hair growth. Some of the chewable melatonin has that crap in it.

@Syberia "Now?"Dunno about Bidenistan, but birch sugar has been the common name for xylitol for decades. It has been known to be one of the sugar alcohols aka artificial sweeteners, much like sorbitol. Hardly anyone is confusing it with regular sugar.Besides, you should never feed a dog any sugary treats, either. Regular sugar may not be as toxic to dogs, but it's certainly harmful, too. Most industrial pet foods likely contain grains, starches and other chemicals that are unnatural to dogs.

@Syberia Exactly. If you put together the words vegan and dog, you're too dumb to own a dog. "Vegan dog food" is animal abuse.That said I used to know at least one veggie/vegan girl who does/did take good care of her two dogs, even feeding them appropriate food. I hope she's not the rare exception these days.
