@feinzer@ak.airis.work Oh, well, I don't think the subdomain matters that much as long as you like it and has meaning. My Akkoma instance is "moe.cachapa.xyz" because my previous domain was "cachapa.moe", but I stopped using it because a) I moved from VPS and migrating the instance was a pain, and b) it got expensive :lain_shrug:As for this Misskey instance, I had an "mk" previously, then ditched it for Calckey ("ck"), and then came back to Misskey but since I didn't want to deal with federation issues it became "moar" :gura_kekw:As for the tld... well, .xyz was the cheapest I could find in my registrar, so I paid like 3-4 years upfront :kekw:

@captain_arepa yeah, .xyz is usually one of the cheapestI want to also host a work related website here so I didn't want an xyz domain but picked work because at worst I could still use it for thatYeah, I know the subdomain doesn't really matter that much but I wanted it to be pretty.I'll just stick with ak. So I can switch to whatever I want at whatever point in the future

@feinzer@ak.airis.work I originally wanted to use this domain for my portfolio, but given that most of the stuff I do is of no actual interest to anyone, I decided to use it for my shitposting and wotnot. I also have another domain, much a la lukesmith.xyz, for my professional portfolio and wotnot, but maintaining 2 fedi instances, a git instance, a nitter instance, a blog and a main page is already tiring, so :lain_shrug:Btw, remember that the domain you have for your instance is pretty much the fingerprint so, if you change it, it'll break federation (unless you plan to set up yet another instance to deal with that change) :kanna_sigh:
