A plant is utterly apathetic to whether it blocks out the sunlight of the plant next to it. The dirt and its microbes are utterly apathetic to whether you live or die. These are things incapable of empathy - yet you would criticise humans for simply not showing enough of that empathy of which they are at least capable. Only a human would take the plant struggling beneath the leaves of another and choose to plant it somewhere else so it may thrive, for no other reason than for the sake of the plant's life. You breathe, your provide carbon dioxide for the plants- you die you become nutrients for the plants. You eat a loaf of bread and the farmer plants more wheat to replace what was taken.
