@misty also speaking as an American following the horror here I don't think there've been any laws PASSED which restrict use of pronouns. There have been some about what schools are allowed to use, but the one attempt I know of got shot down with the question "how on earth do you plan to enforce this"

People add them of course, but that's not the core purpose.The given "illegal code" you upload would only ever have to abide by the country in which it is hosted? AFAIK in GitHub's case that's mostly just in the US.At most a country could just block access to GitHub as a whole if they *really* cared enough who saw it.
