Funny, Linux lets you set a route to link-local addresses (discovered by a student during an exercise).#IPv6

@bortzmeyerYou mean fe80::/10 via ... dev foo?And what does it do? Note that link local addresses have zone indexes as part of the address, so fe80::1 is not a link local address per se, it's just an address from the same address range as link local, fe80::1%eth0 is a link local address because it specifies the zone, which is part of link local addresses. I'd be surprised if Linux lets you set a route using the zone. Does it?

@bortzmeyer running bird on Linux which use link-local addresses as next-hop (if no other ipv6 address available I presume)

@dlakelan Yes, this was the case. We did not try with the interface name.

@BadMax Not the next hop, the route (the target prefix).
