It's rather, does an "artists" customer really want art? Like the whole package? Or just a Projektion of what He had in mind, to fap to, gamble, or hang on the wall?Over the last years i've come to the conclusion that art is nothing material, but rather something that happens. Every Single Person i've seen in the AI debate so far was a complete fucking retard just pointing at the New thing and going "me no like thing!" Or the other way around with no Intention whatsoever to widen their horizon a little. A picture, no matter how beautifull or ugly, is just a picture. Art exists in the moment of creation and later in the moment of "participation", but nobody in this debate is even open minded enough to participate in art, they just want to look at pretty paint on the wall and go "uuuuh pretty"

Ai art would greatly alleviate the pressure manga artists are under. I know, muh chinese comics r 4 gheys and stuff, but Mangakas are some of the most hardworking artists out there. If we have fewer industrious people dying from heart attacks before they're 50, I think that's a net positive.

Yup, adapt, evolve, embrace, for most it's the only way to survive a changing industry. Sure some will hold on with their following, it's easy for them to sit at the top of their ivory tower and shout about fighting back, but smaller illustrators, artists, and even writers will have to adapt to survive. Fighting the tide simply doesn't work without a following to keep you in your safe bubble.

Had my coffee. Another thing to consider when it comes to progress: Is it really true progress if it makes things easier, but not better? We will soon have concept artists who's job will be to generate around 1000 pictures using AI a day, running to the producer, adjusting some parameters according to research data and reworking the best picks and this will be what an "Art job" will look like. Is it really and advancement, if it stops humans from growing? Humans are able to accomplish so many great things, but the industry (the motor of progress 100 years ago) is now working to remove the human element where ever it can and this only leaves us with less skilled, more dependent and generally just stupider people.

Very true, the problem is, even if you don't agree with it, pushing back against it never seems to work, News now uses anyones submitted for free phone camera shot of an event over a professionals filming of it they'd have to pay for. Photographers kicked up a hell of a stink when this was happening (I was studying photography at the time and it was all the professionals were bitching about), didn't stop it. I'm not saying our need to dumb shit down more and more is good in any way, hell my friends have to listen to me bitch and moan all the time about how modern MMORPGs lack any challenge or sense of accomplishment as they just tell you where to go and what to do. But in a world that insists on changing, even for the worse, refusing to adapt only ends up with you stuck in the past, and even though some people will seek out the past (look at Hand made shoes, or vinyl records) only enough to keep a tiny industry alive will exist meaning most will be fucked.
