Why is windows OS so terrible?- Still using the legacy control panel wrappers on windows 11.- Horrible at updates and upgrades.- Native commands for terminal are horrible.- Directory access is completely wrong.- Registry editor is a nightmare.- System notification channel (Pipeline) is an overhead in terms of process consumption and needs redesigning from core.- There are many cons, I have to write forever! ( Ending it here, you can add yours in replies)If you too think windows OS needs redesigning from core kindly 🔁 boost it.

@hotheadhacker Sure, I will! I mostly use Ubuntu but I like to mess around with other distros.

@calculsoberic @hotheadhacker Arch is my daily driver. If you run into any problems let me know. Came from Ubuntu myself. It's funny because Arch users see Ubuntu as the Windows of the Linux world tbh.Honestly, I expect Windows 11 is MS slowly moving away from their legacy code. Hard to get enterprise to change. I can see the attempt to move without breaking too much compatibility at once. Hard line to walk there.

@TheSameCat yeah, I have been told that. It's probably because it's more user-friendly? Oddly enough, my first Linux distro was Whonix, and I'm curious to mess around with it again. @hotheadhacker

@TheSameCat@cyberplace.social @calculsoberic@mstdn.social @hotheadhacker@infosec.exchange I really like Fedora, it feels like it's what Ubuntu should have been.

@dhalucario well maybe I'll try Fedora then! I think it just takes me time to adjust a little to a new distro. @TheSameCat @hotheadhacker

@calculsoberic @hotheadhacker Their choices to add ads to APT, to use proprietary Snaps, etc., Have been a huge turn off to a lot of people. I'm not a free software purist myself (hell, I run Nvidia) but snaps are just worse than flatpak, and canonical has doubled down. I say use what works, but the reputation doesn't surprise me.

@calculsoberic@mstdn.social @TheSameCat@cyberplace.social @hotheadhacker@infosec.exchange I like it a lot more than Ubuntu personally. It has Flatpak and if you need NVIDIA drivers RPMFusion usually works just fine. It even has something similar to the AUR/Launchpad called Copr.

@dhalucario @calculsoberic @hotheadhacker RPM fusion is what *makes* RHEL distros, especially after the MP4 licensing fiasco.

@calculsoberic @dhalucario @hotheadhacker Yeah, you can totally move around snap and use flatpak, it was just a turn off that apt-get install firefox was quietly installing the snap, stuff like that.

@calculsoberic@mstdn.social @TheSameCat@cyberplace.social @hotheadhacker@infosec.exchange You can also just enable it when installing the latest Fedora ISO I think. It asks you if you wanna enable third party repositories. You still need to add Flathub manually though if you want that.
