@Nishi No, it goes beyond that. its poorly designed software too. Web browsers love to assume window managers are stupid, and unfortunately, try to do things like handling backlight, or taking over things that a Window manager should do. They attempt to do "hacks." Hacks are bad.Wayland's good security fixes potential for bugs and encourages better software. It passes control to window managers and such. i.e. tell the WM/Shell to handle fullscreen, blanking, resizing, whereas X11 just lets every application do whatever the fuck it wants. Its more code on the wm devs part, but it offers much finer grain control. X11 just doesnt give a flat fuck what you do.Wayland has its flaws for being so new, aka its not perfect, but its the least shit in design. *BSDs just need to catch up. FreeBSD is already there

@Nishi @nekofag yes, but wayland is just the protocol. the only available compositor is swc which is just for getting basic support out, it's not that practical to use, they talk about how they got it to work in the blog post I think

@Nishi it's not like in X11 where you have the X server and the window manager just shapes windows so that they show up in an accessible way, the compositor does basically everything, drawing, etc. most use wlroots to handle all that instead of writing from scratch

@Nishi I kinda liked JWM. like, it worked? but it had this weird screen tearing and customizing it was difficult, I don't like the Motif theme. the flat theme is alright but for example the panel sucks, I asked the dev about shell script support but he said that it'd "add dependencies" :marseyconfused:

@Nishi it was the best one out of all the ones I tried. Maybe OpenBox was better because labwc is basically that, but it was difficult to configure. JWM was easiest and was the only stacking one that worked properly
