After I found three Black women named "Singh" in the 1940 Census, I looked them up using #genealogy sites like Ancestry:(1) The first was Ellie Singh, aged 58, was born in Alabama, designated "Negro," and listed as a homemaker.She lived in Chicago with husband Juar Singh, age 52, born in India, working as a herb doctor.They lived with their 18 year old son Lester, marked Negro like his mother, and currently attending high school.Links:https://www.ancestry.com/discoveryui-content/view/145028780:2442https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KW1S-1MH5/n

(2) The second was Margaret Singh, age 43, born in New York state, listed as Negro, and living at 211 West 135 Street, New York, NY.She lived with husband Kidat (sic) Singh, who was listed as being naturalized (?!), working as a doctor in a private office, where he'd apparently worked 84 hours in the past week.Sadly, the census taker's handwriting is *terrible*. (3) And finally, there's Bertha Singh, 39, who was born in Pulaski, Virginia, listed here as Negro, and lived at 3140 105 Street, New York, NY.She lived with husband Mahabir Singh, 39, born in British Guyana, marked "Negro," naturalized, and working as a metal etcher in a novelty factory. He owned their home.(Was he a former indentured worker? Mixed-race? The way FBI crime stats count Latinos, Arabs and various other sand people as "White", simply to make White people to seem way more crime-prone than they really are - and despite this statistical trickery, black people are STILL shown to commit violent crime at something like 8 times the rate of "White" people.

@ChristiJunior the poorest white neighbourhood has less crime than the wealthiest black neighbourhood, areas that have the highest degree of cosanguinuity (marrying too closely) are in the same regions that have lowest IQ scores. Hmmm, now I wonder what the predominant skin colour is? (accounting for mixed-race people)Yep, generally quite dark/black @edteck @anirvan @simon
