Many students at Callisburg High School in northern Texas recognized that it wasn’t right that an 80-year-old man had to perform arduous labor because he couldn’t afford to be retired anymore. The elderly man had to rejoin the workforce when his landlord raised his rent. The students set out to do a fundraiser so he could go back into retirement. They raised a whopping $270,905 — enough to ensure their new friend can enjoy his retirement without needing to work.https://www.westernjournal.com/students-raise-270k-80-year-old-janitor-retire-rejoin-workforce/?utm_source=site&utm_medium=aggregator10&utm_campaign=can

@LoriQuaid my stepfather was wrangling shopping carts at the supermarket when he was 80 because he was bored.

@LoriQuaid Nice to see the elderly doing something constructive, they’re all so lazy round this way.

@tsv13 I can see that. There are elderly who set up a lawn chair in the front yard just to get a chance to interact with people.
