@newt moreover, if I'm not mistaken, there are already dolls with Down syndrome and a virtual bloger or some other degenerate bullshit like that.

@newt kids' minds are really ductile. There were "POOPSIE SLIME" toys kids really liked: doll of baby unicorn you can feed with a special mixture, make it shit and then play with its crap (which is slime actually).I won't be surprized, if kids are gonna play with those gremlin syndrome dolls.Yet another reason for home schooling and against leaving toddlers alone with smartphones.

@LukeAlmighty is this more retarded than wheelchair-accessible dungeons in D&D?

@corfiot @LukeAlmighty couple of years ago WotC released a few modules for D&D 5 with "wheelchair-accessible dungeons". I.e. your character could be bound to a chair and still walk through them.I literally have no idea how, why, and for whom. Don't ask.https://www.polygon.com/2021/1/12/22225381/dungeons-dragons-candlekeep-mysteries-wheelchair-accessible

@newt @LukeAlmighty @corfiot It's not for the cripples, it's for the people who want to roleplay cripples.

@7 @LukeAlmighty @corfiot i mean, duh..The thing that makes it weird is that it is so explicit. In the years before, nobody has even considered that you would need to design an adventure specifically for a crippled character. If your character was somehow crippled during the game, nobody would think it as a problem and just stop playing lol

@newt @7 @Corfiot Also, the obvious. If your character is crippled, It makes for new obstacles. If the dungeon is already wheelchair accessible, then the character being crippled becomes an esthetical choice.

@corfiot @7 @LukeAlmighty do you know how there are deaf people who refuse cochlear implants because this would exclude them from the deaf culture? Probably same thing.I sort of understand why this might work IRL, but in fantasy or sci-fi worlds where there is all kinds of magic, including character resurrection, golems, androids, nanobots, and what not, disability just screams intent on the part of the writer. And while it might be interesting if disability made for an interesting character trait -- imagine a mage who wouldn't have his eyes healed because he can "see" the world around him through magic or a cleric of a blind god who blinded himself as a part of his cult initiation -- disability just for the sake of disability ruins all immersion and fun.

@LukeAlmighty @7 @corfiot there are lots of those, really. But it's a thought-out game mechanic that can serve the plot. For one, in my beloved Pathfinder: Kingmaker, one of the characters blinds himself at some point of the game depending on the player's choices and alignment. And this really does make sense from the plot point of view. Of course, he receives all penalties associated from this act (but funny enough, he still has better Perception than the stupid paladin chick because she's just a total retard and her INT is lower than that of a goblin, I kid you not). Now, I glanced through those modules quickly, and there is literally nothing in them that would make it interesting to play a character in a wheelchair. You can do it, of course. But there is just no reason to.

@newt @LukeAlmighty @corfiot That's the part I don't find weird. It's explicit because it's a news story, not a serious product. Those who buy it will buy the booklet for signalling but never actually run the campaign.

@7 @LukeAlmighty @corfiot maybe, but this fits nicely into the overall trend of D&D becoming worse in almost every aspect while trying to cater to those who probably wouldn't play it.

@7 @LukeAlmighty @corfiot ah well... D&D 4 and 5 are total and utter shit. On the bright side, there is Pathfinder that started as a fork of D&D 3.5 and continues in the same vein.

@newt why companies have such stupid ideas...Kids don't want to feel represented while they play, they wanna throw fucking laser rays from their eyes, be a súper hero, a knight or whatever they dream about, not a normal diseased guy, they need to escape reality and use their imagination to be happy while playing, not to be thinking about their diseases even while they are supposed to enjoy life and forget problems :002teehee:

@JoseMariaHDZ the most plausible explanation is that they are trying to cater to a new audience because the old one is too grown up to care. Or because they just want moar moneyz!
