@nanoelquant I'm just using it since 36 and it's really stable. The only issue is that it sometimes doesn't connect to my Bluetooth headset until I redo pairing. But Bluetooth is the weak point of Linux in general 😂

@altair222 @fosserytech for activist and journalistic case (hoping you have Android instead of iOS) would be Signal, or Molly which is hardened Signal Fork, Session, or Briar. Not too sure about PC.

@nihilistic_capybara @fedora @keepassxc @librewolf @libreoffice @protonmail @protonvpn I think each email and cloud providers can do that. When you use any of those you have to trust them with your data. If you're concerned about that, the only solution is self-hosting. Proton Mail is still the best option for those who can't self-host.

@fosserytech @nihilistic_capybara they can only hand over the data they have, like IP-address and any registration/payment details or the Subject Line. The Mailbox, after the eMails are stored are E2EE, so nobody can get to it. Incoming and Outgoing Emails which are not E2EE can be scanned for Malware and other things, so are susceptible to interception. It depends on your use-case.

@fosserytech @nihilistic_capybara nobody including Proton can read any eMail which is E2EE - with the exception of the Headers, Date/Time, Sender/Recipient and Subject Line. If you are not a criminal, that should be no reason to be overly-concerned.

@nihilistic_capybara @fosserytech must be, unless there was an interception order and plain eMails checked before they where encrypted on receipt. Plus any foreign territory has to go through the Swiss justice-system.

@fosserytech @nihilistic_capybara @fedora @keepassxc @librewolf @libreoffice @protonmail @protonvpn There isn't rly any good way to self-host email, especially when you also want to send. Receive sure, there are options, but sending emails from self-hosted server is almost undoable without all of your emails ending up in spam.

@nihilistic_capybara @fosserytech another option is to use a normal eMail provider and using PEP https://www.pep.security/ - but recommend to create/use your own 4096 keys, as they only provide 2048.

@fosserytech @protonmail @protonvpn @libreoffice @librewolf @keepassxc @fedora#Protonmail does not #encrypt the subject line like #Tutanota. other than that, it's a better solution than many free or non encrypted #email providers.I find #openSUSE a very stable and a rock solid #linux #distro. To me, it's a battle tested heavy duty prosumer commercial grade distro. I'm a gui dependent user, so openSUSE is quite accommodating for those who don't know CLI commands.#Tumbleweed is also a rolling release with bleeding edge tech. @nihilistic_capybara @fosserytech Exactly, our encryption cannot be bypassed, and all the content stored encrypted on our servers remains inaccessible to us: https://protonmail.com/security-details. Therefore, we are not able to share it with third-parties in an unencrypted format. We only have access to certain metadata which we need for the service to work properly and to prevent abuse and illegal activity. Our threat model is public, so check if it fits your needs: https://proton.me/blog/protonmail-threat-model.
