I do have extra distaste for emoji though because they are so tiny and I have to look them up every time for the meaning.        @cnx @simevidas @wilmhit I've been pushing for the ability to expand an emoji when long-pressing on it.  IMO this should be a common accessibility feature of all apps that display emoji.  If not long press, then something else de facto standard.#UX #a11y #accessibility

       I thought we had enough unicode bugs already.We have this standard that covers probably all your needs. We been pushing for it's adoption for years. It's currently so well established. It would be a real shame if I had doubts when I say "just use unicode". It would be a real shame if that happened because of extra feature that are emojis.And it's not like those old ones were bad. Honestly I think that genderless and raceless smiley faces have less potential for abuse than those new ones.

       Except in Safari, whose maxlength implementation seems to treat all emoji as length 1. This means that the maxlength attribute is not fully interoperable between browsers.I filed a WebKit bug: https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=252900

       @simevidas Seldom known Unicode Facts:The eradicated family member is always called “Ian” and he may be the youngest member of the family *or* the oldest.It depends on whether the encoding is Big End Ian or Little End Ian.

       @simevidas Shouldn’t 1 be the correct answer, though? String length in Unicode is a tricky business. Returning the “grapheme cluster length” seems to be the least wrong option, otherwise you’re entering a world of hurt.
