I've recently switched from GNOME after 12 or so years to KDE Plasma. First time KDE user. Oh my god, how much better KDE is. Ease of use, KDE applications, customization, workspace organization, aesthetics - everything is much better. I feel like my life has been a lie until this point. Thank you whoever develops KDE and Kubuntu. @kubuntu #KDE #KDEPlasma #kubuntu #GNOME @kde

@varfrog Arch-based Plasma distros. For me now it's Arch itself, but i used Manjaro KDE for 3 years before that to get a good initial feel for the Arch concepts. EndeavourOS is excellent, & is closer to pure Arch than MJ. openSUSE [Tumbleweed & Leap] also do Plasma well [of those two, i'd pick TW, coz it rolls, & IMO KDE Plasma changes so fast you get the best UX if your distro rolls along with it].Fedora KDE is another to consider. Personally Plasma in F has never felt "quite right" to me.

@dropbear42 @varfrog What do you feel isn't right about it? Personally, I feel Fedora KDE does a fantastic job of providing a KDE Plasma experience. And it rolls the latest Plasma releases to stable releases as they come.

@Conan_Kudo @varfrog This is a bit tricky, & possibly apocryphal. It's not a definite "thing" i can point at atm, but more somehow a bit of a "vibe" i get with it compared to my Arch Plasma. That makes no sense, & i wanna say, i cannot "defend" my claim. IMO any user interested in Plasma should definitely try the F spin themselves. I just realised too... i formed that silly "feeling" a couple of years ago, when i was less familiar with F, & if it was ever true then, it's probably false now.

@Conan_Kudo @varfrog It is my 01:15 here, & after my last post i put my tower to sleep then went to get myself ready for bed too. Brushing my teeth, i could not shake the growing feeling that my OP that you rightfully queried, was wrong, silly & unfair... + tbh, pretty embarrassing. Hence, i've returned to my Study, woken up my pooter again, launched my Fedora Plasma VM, am running an update on it now, & am gonna prolly confirm the stupidity of my other post.

@Conan_Kudo @varfrog To make it a fairer comparison, i'm trying to set the same theme in my F-KDE VM as i use in my Arch, which for starters needs Oxygen. However, this loooooooooong list of consequential downgrades is rather worrisome... dunno atm if i should proceed. Ha, maybe now IS the right time for bed; i'll see if it makes more sense once the sun's up again.PS: [she cheekily adds] Suffice to say, i never had any such massive downgrade long ago when i installed Oxygen into Arch KDE... 🤭

@dropbear42 @varfrog 1. It'll land within 24 hours of it getting one more positive karma from a tester. Otherwise, it'll take 14 days to hit stable updates. It should land in the testing repos in the next day or so.2. All via standard repositories. No need for COPRs for this.3. You might have gotten an out of sync mirror. Run "dnf" again with "--refresh" to have it retry and select a new mirror.

I've even removed it & deleted its `rc` & `conf` files then reinstalled it. 😮 No gloating! 🤭
