i can see your logic and understand why you believe him, and admittedly there is a chance you're correct. however there are a couple of reasons why i think you're wrong:1. to reiterate and earlier point of mine: he was in the committee meeting for over two hours and at no point did he make any effort to clarify the point he *claims* he was actually trying to make.2. if your *are* going to use an opportunity like this to politically grandstand, the correct way to make this move is to have a press conference or at least release a statement immediately after the hearing/committee meeting ends so you deny your political opposition the opportunity to frame the situation.3. there are many republicans who publicly claim to be anti-abortion and yet they personally have no problem with it in their private lives, as the number of scandals involving republican politicians paying their mistresses to secretly have abortions is incredibly high.4. a lot of republicans are secretly turbo capitalism worshipping libertarians masquerading as right wing conservatives, so this type of "just let people kill their children if they want to save taxpayer money" is well within their overton window.
