@LurkPerry The first time there was an attempt to subvert the LCMS, it did not work because they attempted to do so through the seminaries - leading to the Seminex controversy. The laity spoke up, and since all of this was a religious matter the leaders of the synod kicked all of the subverters out.But now the "lutherans for racial justice" group came in the same way an NGO does. Shows up, pretends to be grassroots, then exerts power in the same way al sharpton and all the other shakedown organizations do. This time it's seeing a great amount of success because they have murky (read: probably from outside, wealthy donors) finances and lots of *worldly* sway. Basically, now that we have a culture that says the accusation of racism equals the destruction of the individual AND the institution, all they had to do was have a few of their guys get MDivs through Concordia or get ordained through the SMP and suddenly they had a collar on that told people to respect them. So now not only do they have the pretend-religious justification for their demands that Seminex has, they also wield the ability to accuse the synod of racism, sue them into oblivion, etc. This is how "lutherans for racial justice" got to run the ENTIRETY of the national youth gathering, peddling CRT to kids last year.Essentially, the seminex people came back with a vengeance, and brought the power of Caesar with them. Making matters worse, the LCMS did two things to try to stop another seminex from happening:-First, they made everything hyper-bureaucratic. Lots of rules, a pastor's conference would burn to the ground before a motion was carried to call the fire department. This has been manipulated by subverter who don't believe they have to play by the rules, but scream demands for people to follow rules made against public criticism. -Second, the LCMS started embracing semi-papist sacerdotalism, meaning the laity was disempowered from ever questioning the clergy. The CTCR was also given a lot more power to essentially be treated like some bull-submitting papal magisterium. They likely did all this to keep clergy on after seminex and to keep laity from getting too uppity. So when Ryan Turnipseed sounded the alarm about them inserting leftist trash into the LCAE, they all responded with "bUt Ur not a PaStOr!!1!"So the synod weakened themselves severely, subverters started taking over, and when laity noticed and started fighting back, they kicked it into overdrive for hostile takeover. Harrison's opponent in the election this year is directly pandering to l4rj. Harrison decided to pick the leftist side of the fight because it's an election year for him and one pastor got ready to *sue* him over conservative pastors making public critique. It's not going to get any better in the coming days, months, years, or decades.

The CS is a house church movement designed to make sure people are spiritually fed without having to worry about getting kicked out like they would with the LCMS. It's based church, if you will.

@SuperLutheran @MoralPanic @Chuckie_ar_la @fuat2mb Yeah, freedom of religion is a lot more restricted in Europe and despite that they never managed to shut down the varied SSPX offshoots and factions, and trust me those are on average playing a lot harder with the edge than the Catacomb Synod.Decentralized actually works very well for churches because they don’t need either economy of scale nor organizing of multi-parish events.At some point a seminary would probably become necessary infrastructure, and that does provide a target, but once again, others have done it before in a very hostile environment and while they do get a disproportionate amount of tax audits, they survive.
