i hear you but this argument doesn't fly with me. the logistical challenges didn't go away a year later, they're still there. if it came out later that we've been training pilots/tank crews a year ago i'd go along with this idea more but it hasn't. just seems pretty silly and makes me think there's no clear plan here, just policy making based on emotions.another disadvantage (theorizing out of my ass here) is that earlier in the fighting you had more people who would be capable of driving tanks/jets. the ukrainians have lost people they don't have the ability to lose due to the aid packages not coming quickly enough.

another thing is the ukrainians don't have the ability to train anyone at all on their own soil because all of their facilities are under threat of attack so they have to send their soldiers out to train elsewhere. when they get these supplies aren't they just as likely to get bombed or considered a target? if they can't defend the supplies what's the point of sending them over? it'll just be expensive scrap

i'm not saying they would've been the best trained, just that they would've had a larger pool of people from which to train. idk, i hear all this stuff that comes out which whatever i'm not a general or have any training in military affairs. it's just it would sound better if they were winning instead of losing this entire fight

yeah i realize ukraine is doing alright in digging in and holding positions. the trench warfare style of combat is real. can the west outindustry russia? everything we're hearing seems to suggest the opposite, that russia can replace their munitions faster than ukrainians can, which is why zelensky is constantly asking the EU for weapons/supplies/munitions. also why no one wanted to be the first to give them tanks or jets, a lot of leaders recognizing a losing bet when they see it. after a certain point PR can only help so much, you need something much more substantial. russia doesn't need to use WMDs to win this war, if anything i'm more scared of the US or Ukraine staging some sort of WMD false flag to drum up more support for this war. considering both sides are on the record for claiming this brother war is now an existential fight between two world powers and systems of governance.not really into claiming which side has the better military strategy, time will tell who was more prepared and willing to win. but i don't like that the US is throwing so much into a conflict when we have so many domestic issues to deal with instead. i feel the issues of the US citizenry should trump whatever is going on halfway around the world. but we'll see how this turns out.

i am of the opinion there will be no satisfactory outcome here. zelensky wants all of his territory back, russia wants to keep their ethnically russian territories but will probably also not stop until the govt is replaced with a friendlier one.we're just going into a new cold war with russia and it looks like china as well

which is really getting to the heart of what scares me the most about this conflict, judging from the rhetoric of our leaders and leadership in russia, the way everyone is phrasing this they're all wildcards ready to launch a nuke in a second. this needs to fucking stop dude. i get that the USSR was our enemy and the modern russian state as a descendent of that should be our enemies as well, but the visceral hate i feel coming from washington and kiev is fucking terrifying. we have people talking about making such an example out of russia that they're never going to try and do something like this again for decades, for what? from what i understand the reason we never straight up beat the shit out of the russians was because they posed an existential threat to us. why are we testing to see exactly how bitchmade the russians are over ukraine?
