       #Twitter trying to do #Google-type ads based on keywords is likely going to be a train wreck. When people Search, they're *looking for something*. When people *mention* something on Twitter, they could easily be saying that it's horrible -- not something most advertisers would probably want to pop an ad onto. And Musk's insanely rushed implementation schedule means no time for the kinds of analysis that might help mitigate this, nor does he likely even understand the need for this, since he apparently immediately fires engineers that point out his ignorance.

       @laurenscience,I’m so close to removing myself completely from that site. There are people I will miss so much. I used it for international connections, medicine, science, and news discussions. I will aim to do the same here, but get more into my personal interests. I really cannot stomach that site anymore.

       @lauren I’ve been regularly getting ads on Twitter over last several months (since November) to travel to Saudi Arabia or for businesses there. I have tweeted a number of times negative things about Saudi repression and corruption, never anything positive, and I’ve never been there.

       @lauren@tchambers You used to be able to target ads to specific handles (e.g. if I were a skateboard helmet maker I could choose to show ads to Tony Hawk's followers, but that disappeared.
