@jeff because...you are lowering your own status by being intolerant of something that should not be noble enough to bother you :cirno_think:

@gingermilk why is it morally wrong to be intolerant of something that is considered that can be excessively bothersome if left unchecked?

@jeff it is not necessarily morally wrong, but in that specific perspective, you are lowing your morality to match the standards of the opponent or thing you consider bothersome. an example would be "you don't bite back a dog when a dog bites you".at least that's how I understand it.

@gingermilk you do however kill a dog if it is a risk to the vulnerable around it.

@gingermilk if something is small enough people wont need to tolerate it as it's benign.

@jeff I never consider tolerance a virtue. but some may perceive it morally superior by reacting indifferently to troubles to prove that they are completely separate from trivial affairs and prefer spending energy on things that are more worthy.

@gingermilk so does anyone actually genuinely think that tolerance is a moral virtue?

@jeff I pretty much explained it already. people think they can enrich their spiritual world and remain noble by the rational choice of tolerance. the more pain you suffer, the sweeter the reward will taste.

@gingermilk is that tolerance or is that endurance? tolerance is permitting something or someone that is of questionable merit whereas endurance is exercising to become stronger.
