I haven't done lent since I was a little boy and the one thing I'd really want to give up, soda, I actually haven't touched since new years. I don't feel like there's anything I really need to give to right now, so maybe I should do something nice instead. There's also the option of fasting on Fridays, which I am only hesitant to commit to because I need my energy in Friday.I really don't know what good deeds I can do though. Giving money feels super lame and not really participating.

@josh I'm sure there's a homeless shelter. Go there on Wednesday nights and help give soup to hobos. Even just a little charity makes Baby Jesus giggle happily.

@joshvolunteer somewhere once a week. soup kitchens and homeless shelters are good if you want to directly interact with the people youre helping. habitat for humanity is great if you want more physical labor (and as a bonus youll learn some home repair or basic construction, great for when you can own a house or if your landlord is slow sending guys to fix stuff).

@josh I know this may not sound like the best thing ever, but it's pretty easy, and it goes a long way to improve the lives of not just yourself, but also others.Get yourself a small, regular garbage bag, go outside, and pick up garbage (with gloves, obviously). 1 bag per week, and your neighborhood improves significantly.There's always be some assholes littering (more often than not, shitskins), but by doing that little bit yourself, you help to make your neighborhood look nicer.

@josh As gay as it sounds, you keeping the site up no matter the setbacks has actually done a lot of good. You've shown people that you can fight back against Total Internet Death and you gave those who want to tear down the Internet a run for their money, literally. @josh >> I need my energy in Friday.I'm doing fasts all the time, first rule is don't stress about it if you stress about the fast it becomes harder, second just drink each time you have the urge to put something in your stomach, drink black tea, black coffee, through the day once in the morning and once in the evening squeeze a fresh lemon onto a pint of water add a pinch of salt and drink that.I'm doing 48h-72h fasts all the time now and it becomes easier and easier, I never lack energy or anything, I can even exercise fine when I'm fasting, in fact doing some moderate exercise while fasting is advised.If you can't manage a 24h fast your metabolism is a bit screwed, so you need to start slowly doing half a day fasts for a little while avoiding anything with added sugar and over-processed carbohydrates.
