So apparently 'nowt' is now a word. Wow #British people good job. That's a new one for me.#Nowt - it means like nothing?

@moliver Thank you. Makes sense. Naught itself is not a very commonly used word for me but I definitely understand it.

@Jdreben I'd say 'nowt' is a dialectic spelling of the word naught. I'd expect you'd hear 'nowt' more in the north of England

@jpthuot03 Don't worry. Nature of federation. I should probably update the OG post in such cases.

@Jdreben I could have read the comments first. On the other hand, another comment doesn´t hurt 😉

@Catonauts I feel like they don't all always show up even if you look too though. Maybe depends on how connected your server is? I don't fully get it. But I think it's an effect of federation.

@Jdreben Sometimes it indeed shows no comments at all, instead telling me to go to the "original toot" (on a different instance) to see them. Idk why but I am on a small instance, only 1,5k user or so.

@Jdreben It's been a word since the middle ages; a variation of "naught" meaning "nothing". Also "owt" meaning "anything". These words never went away in northern England, especially Yorkshire. "Summat" means "something" but that's a more recent evoluton, unrelated to owt or nowt, and more common in the south of England.
