@fediverse Ummm… In my experience, those stats are virtually useless to Guage platforms, and 46 days is shit uptime.I suggest rather, that uptime by individual instance is s better metric of uptime, rather than by platform, and indicates the level of competence or commitment if the admin to maintain HA.Back in the day (as if it was that many years ago lolz) I believe it was, lemme see here if I’ve got an old bookmark…Yup!https://fediverse.network/serversI think that’s what I use to use. It vanished one day though, and I was never even able to find out when I asked others whose site it was or where the repo was (If anyone does know, please, by all means, do let me know, okay?).Anyway, I observed that site and noted that it had a “last checked” timestamp, which checked each individual server, if I remember correctly, with a polling occurrence of every 50 minutes. That’s why I was able to maintain 100% uptime in the stats, with over 700 days of uptime. When I did need to bring the daemon down for any sort of maintenance or upgrade, I made sure to plan for that 50 minutes where there was a window.Another really nice thing about that utility site, was that it held the nodeinfo data for any instance that chose to publish it, so a simple script on my instance’s “about” page displayed the up to date MRF settings, Etc., with clear descriptions, Etc., Led from they utility site instead of my own server 😎You can’t really trust some of the stats nowadays from most of the sites though, because some of the admins publish fraudulent statistics (no names mentioned, but you know who you are and that makes you an asshat), pretending as if some entire instances, networks, and/or platforms don’t even exist. For example, even one of the bots inflated the number of mastopub user accounts by aggregating all Fediverse user accounts and citing that number as the number of mastodon users - it was inflated by a very, very big number, and I managed to get one web news media company to correct their article and issue an errata, since it was the stats from that bot from which they derived their erroneous statistics.People shouldn’t lie about those statistics, and those that do are total fucktards.#tallship #FOSS #Fediverse #uptime #stats⛵.

@graf @fediverse Thank you! And that's just one of hundreds no doubt.I don't know specifically how you handle that with your managed services, but I'm sure your customers are mostly clueless about those sorts of things (a luxury that we're expected to provide for our hosting customers), and would wager that those updates are pretty much a blink of the eye occurrence 👍
