       It also bothers me how many space SciFi stories say climate change drove us to the stars. I think the next logical steps to deadly surface conditions would be to burrow into the ground first then maybe try the sea floor, etc. But the radiation and lack of easy gravity and the vacuum and the thermal magament, etc, are problems we’re not ready to overcome on the scale needed. Mastering the seafloor is a great technological stepping stone / proving ground, while providing mass climate shelter.
