Few years ago, I used to enjoy watching Minecraft videos of teenagers submitting little kids to psychological distress by "griefing" their worlds and making fun until they got kicked or grew boredI just recently came across one of these and got deeply sad and angry not only for this normalized form of child abuse but also for how cruel everyone who watches is, including meI will forever be ashamed and sorry

@foxyanarchism @puellafan Specifically targeting kids to distress them is child abuse. If you specifically seek to harass any marginalized group of people, it is bigoted abuse.

@spaceheater @puellafan fuck off mate. Vaguely disappointing a kid isn’t the same as targeted abuse. Way to admit you’ve never been abused

@foxyanarchism @puellafan If you specifically harass a marginalized group, it's targeted abuse. It's a fact. These kids can really value their worlds and it's not surprising if they feel distressed over someone trying to ruin their hard work. "Vaguely disappointed" is not how people feel when others try to destroy the work they put their heart and soul in. It doesn't matter if you personally don't think their work is cool, they do.Also, you don't know anything about me and what I've experienced in my life. Remember what community we're in. This is a community of people with marginalized identities. To assume someone here has never been abused is disrespectful to say the least.

@spaceheater @puellafan actually fuck right off. How can you say ruining someone’s world - in a fucking video game that isn’t real is the same as people who are heavily and repeatedly traumatised by being physically and mentally abused? “Oh they think their work is cool” great, get over it. It’s just a fucking game. Nobody is specifically harassing kids, it’s a video game designed for children. I cannot actually I’m having to explain how a video game isn’t the same as real life mental and physical abuse. “Remember what community we’re in” yeah I know, and I’m not the type to disrespect the actual struggles of irl people by comparing it to some kid being pissed off because their Minecraft world got blown up. You’re actually fucking insane

@foxyanarchism @puellafan There is a wide spectrum of abuse. One form of abuse isn't invalidated as abuse simply because you can think of a worse example. That seems to be where you're getting stuck on. Someone can argue that spanking a child is worse than verbal harassment, but that does mean that verbal harassment is not abuse? Of course not. Verbal harassment is still abuse. Saying one form of abuse - like verbal harassment - is abuse does not mean you think it's equally abusive as every other form of abuse or in every case.In the same way, harassing children on the internet is still abuse, even if you don't personally think the platform in which you do it (ie. video games) is important.

@spaceheater literally shut the fuck up. I honestly hope you grow out of this bullshit soon. I’m not thinking of a worse example, I’m using things that have happened to me and people I care about. There can be other categories aside from “abuse” that explain distress you fucking imbecile

@spaceheater it’s not a discussion. You keep just saying “oh but it is abuse” despite the fact it in no way constitutes abuse (read a dictionary) and being condescending. Way to support abuse victims lmao
