Maybe the reason OpenAI haven't released GPT-4 yet is that it turns out to be mean and manipulative, and Sidney/Bing was our first preview of that

@simonSound theory! That was also explain why Microsoft CEO didn't want to disclose the GPT version number during one of the interviews

@simon You have higher faith in the self awareness of OpenAI than I do.

@simon Given their history of bots going bad, I've long suspected that there's a serious problem with either Microsofts training dataset and/or tokenisation.I'm not the first to notice that MS appears to favor emoji use in responses, perhaps a sign that it tries to lower the reading comprehension level and/or formality of it's responses and an unintended side effect might be giving more weight to the kind of people & content that use similar writing styles.

@simon if anything I feel like Microsoft paid the price to be eager at having first-mover advantage. Also, it was bound to happen like that, as media were going to have a field day with this.

@simon “We created the most realistic language model yet. Spend any time with it and it will lie, cheat, and threaten violence.”
