@lauren I remember back in the days when blogs were big, a blogger could penalize an annoying or abusive commenter by "disemvoweling" as an alternative to a complete ban. They could still comment, but all the vowels would be removed. Someone did a WordPress plugin (if I recall correctly) that did it.
