::: RISC-V / VisionFive 2 - gaming on this System-on-a-Chip soon? đšī¸ RISC-V means open / libre hardware - no proprietary licensing restrictions! VisionFive 2 - a new RISC-V board with relatively powerful performance (comparable to Raspberry Pi 4). Quad-core processor @ 1.5GHz - up to 8GB of LPDDR4 RAM - eMMC storage + a TF card slot.The future is free (as in freedom).=> https://boilingsteam.com/visionfive-2-a-raspberry-pi-like-moment-for-risc-v#RISCV #SoC #VisionFive #eMMC #raspberrypi #OpenSource #hardware #computers @boilingsteam

@linux @boilingsteam it's certainly a good board but the GPU drivers are yet to be open sourced (it's promised to be "soon")

@boilingsteam @linux I'm not undermining the VF2 by saying it doesn't have open GPU drivers. I like it so far. (It has an Arch Linux image btw đ)For the Pi 4, I don't think that the H/W vendor (or silicon vendor for that matter) has open sourced any GPU drivers. But the community is doing it. So technically there is an open source GPU driver for the Pi 4.I have never and probably never will use the GPU on either devices except for the occasional "Can I watch this H265 movie on it yet?"

@boilingsteam @thefossguy @linux Broadcom... so... reverse engineering in process...I will never ever understand how the people who made the Pi went for a SOC with a VGA with no open driver, it doesn't make sense, if you're going to buy millions of chips I'm sure you can negotiate to get the driver code too. Furthermore what is the point of using closed-source hardware you can't take advantage from? Simply go for another SOC from a more open-source friendly company there are plenty to choose from. :facepalm:
