@Krisss Art taste is very individual. Maybe follow the hastags you provided and then follow the ones you like + mute the rest?

@KarenKasparArt Thanks, I will! I have only developped an interest in art mid december. I was home with the flu and decided to start a mastodon account, to see what that was all about. There I ran into lots of beautiful artwork. And I started scrolling the www for art. Writing down names of artists. And now I use Mastodon mainly to post art.Have you been an artist for a long time yet?

@Krisss I've been painting since my childhood. But it was only for myself. In 2004 I started to show my work to the public in my first art exhibition. In 2018 I opened an account at Fine Art America to show my work online and to sell prints.https://karen-kaspar.pixels.com/Thank you for your interest and for sharing and supporting my art!

@apocryphate absolutely. And It's about autenticity too. With age I got more confident and accept my flaws. So I am now mostly my true self most of the time..

@Krisss thatās some big truth right there. Took me 40 years to realize that the things Iād been masking, hiding, and struggling to change, I was actually okay with. It was other people (whom I didnāt respect or like anyway) that I was doing it for.

@apocryphate It took me a long time too. But it was only when I faced some mental issues that I really ran into myself so to speak and was forced to stop pretending I was something I was not. And these days most of the time it feels very natural to be myself. I feel like I have accepted myself for who I am..

@Krisss I read your bio, Kris, and I couldnāt be happier for you. It must feel like a warm blast of sunshine after endless rain.Iāve been dealing with severe clinical depression for most of my life, including 25+ years of ineffective treatments and medications. But I still just started working with a new psychiatrist and Iām in the beginning of a 3 month process of getting off old meds and onto new ones. Canāt give up.

@apocryphate Yes I cant even describe how happy I am that I am finally out of that dark place. It's been a year now since I have last felt depressed. And how I feel right now, is that not feeling depressed is enough for me to be happy and satisfied. Anything else is a bonus. Sorry to hear you have been suffering for so long! Have you tried out many therapies and medicines? I really hope this new 'project' will work out for you! š·

@Krisss Thank you for your kindness, Kris. Iāve been on virtually every medication thatās approved for depression, in myriad combinations. I believe itās called ātreatment-resistant depressionā or TRD. Iāve come to view it as a super power of sorts. The mercilessly painful landscapes that make up my existence, it would destroy the average person to live there. But it allows me to become well acquainted with the emotions most people can hide from, and that gives me a singularly unique perspective to write, draw, and sculpt from.

@apocryphate You sound like a very strong oerson to be able to 'allow' this depression in your life and even turn it into a strenght from which you create art..

@Krisss oh, I just feel like perspective and context are the most important things to understand about the world. Any weakness can also be considered a strength from a different perspective or in a different context.

@apocryphate Ah I understand what you mean. And I agree. Every weakness had a strenght in it, and every strenght comes with a weakness. Even without switching perspectives, this is the case I believe..
