@AmishSuperModel @gordoooo_z , there are a surprising number of Canadians who own guns. There are a surprising number of Swiss that own sub machine guns. I think a major difference is universal healthcare systems. It may also be education, but that's a bit harder to nail down.

@JonKramer @AmishSuperModel @gordoooo_z It's harder to get a weapon here. If you have a whiff of mental health problems, you will have all of your guns seized. The second amendment means that there will never been Canadian style gun control in the US, unless SCOTUS radically changes its interpretation of "shall not be infringed."

And I agree firmly with Karl Marx when he says to never surrender weapons to the government. Unless you want a police state... what we need is red flag laws, and red flag anyone who is a credible threat. ANYONE. And stop turning a blind patriarchal/racist eye to who should be flagged. And who shouldn't. And stop blaming our situation on provable falsehoods.

@SaanichGuy @AmishSuperModel Not really. The US has 89 firearms per 100 residents, while Canada has 31 per 100 residents. So we do have "access". It's probably the mentality too as our gun possession is not a matter of right but a mere privilege and subject to very strict regulations, hence we're not too aggressive on ownership.

That means there are enough guns here to arm every single American man, woman and child… plus arm every single Canadian man, woman and child and then arm every Norwegian man, woman and child. And still have 10+ million in reserve. 🤯
