@kairyssdalWith the forethought and care that they put into all their other "improvements", there is a non-zero probability that people who are not paying for the honor will find themselves unable to log into Twitter because SMS 2FA is disabled but their accounts require it for signing in.

@kairyssdal "That's a nice Twitter feed you have there ... it'd be a real shame if someone was to hijack it, so you might want to subscribe and pay us for protection....""Users must pay for security features we should be providing for free -- but per the Chief Twit's last tantrum, we need to care more about making money these days."

@kairyssdal What I find most baffling about some of these network entrepreneurs is that they seem to have no understanding of the economics of networks. Network security is a collective action problem. The challenge is to make it as cheap as possible for users to contribute to network security. What is to be gained by making such effort more costly?

@kairyssdal Somewhere at Twitter somebody had to flip a coin to determine whether this 'feature' would let you pay to -have- 2FA, or let you -skip- 2FA.It's actually remarkable that they didn't unveil a plan that would have you pay either way depending on your preference.I guess there's always next week.

@kairyssdal I'm hearing that Google Authenticator gets around this absurd move by Twitter.
