How do you see the Ukrainians winning this at all? They are begging the west for arms, military supplies, equipment they can’t even use, money to run their government, they have lost something like a third of their population to emigration or war casualties, the west(America) is reaching the end of the stockpiles they’re willing to send off to Ukraine because America has no surge capacity to match the amount of arms and artillery Russia can manufacture. By 2012 when Putin pushed his way to become an "eternal president" and brutally beaten everyone who disagreed with fake elections (Bolotnata protests), the amount of people in Ukraine who wanted to have anything to do with Russia further decreased.In 2013 Yanukovych continued to pretend to be building a kind of bridge between Russia and EU by the EU Association Agreement, but was promptly called to Sochi to meet Putin and disciplined. His completely unexpected and unexplained cancelation of the Agreement after this visit was the direct cause behind Euromaidan. Russians dealt with it in their usual way — brute force, but what worked in Russia (Bolotblnaya) did not work in Ukraine due to completely different cultures and attitudes — it just pissed off people even more.I think the original leverage by which Putin made Yanukovych cancel the EU Agreement and instead meekly return to the "Russian world" was a threat of military invasion. The Russians have something like 1,000 operational tanks on the ground. Our supplies aren't going to reach them till the end of the year maybe even in 2024. Ukraine is going to get fucked like one of Bill's child sex slaves. We are at this moment, taking advantage of the amount of time Ukraine is bleeding out to shore up our own production capabilities, and dangling the prospect of joining NATO over their heads so that they feel like they won't have suffered like this for no reason. They are not joining NATO after all this is done, they are not going to come back from this magnificently. Russia is already expecting this war to go on for another 30 months and are adjusting their logistics and manufacturing capabilities to sustain a prolonged conflict with NATO.

I don't think you understand that the equipment being given to Ukraine is not being given for free, they are being sent over as lend-lease programs. When a country cannot pay back its debt what do you think happens when they are forced to default? Typically they begin an auction of their infrastructure, western corporations are able to exploit this situation and fill the void with their investment money and what you have is a puppet state that is beholden to the whims of the US government (everything done thru corporations so the government can claim that they are not involved in the rebuilding except to hand out subsidies)They don't have anymore right to move into the EU just like Cuba never had the right to store Russian missiles on their territory, or any other country in Latin America/Asia during the last half century. The assumption you are making that any country that isn't a superpower has the ability to dictate the terms of it's future is laughable on its face.

The issue with these tanks is that they are actually not capable of defending themselves against Russian artillery at all. That was why Ukraine keeps asking for Abrams. We are training men to go into a metal coffin and charge at the Russians for NATO. Not only are they not going to do anything but deliveries for these weapons aren't scheduled for the end of the year. The problem with the war is (it's not for us but for Ukraine) is that the west takes too long to come to a decision to do anything. By the time these tanks arrive the Russians will have advanced further and Zelensky will be begging us for another set of weapons systems that are even more advanced and will require more training and the entire time his entire army is becoming more and more demotivated. This is an unsustainable effort, he cannot win like this.

The Russians are blasting off 30,000 missiles a day at them. This war never made sense for us to get involved but we cannot keep doing this we cannot keep this up forever. The Russians have the surge capacity, resources, willpower to see this through. They have much more on the line than we do, they are not going to let up until a new government is installed in Ukraine that is not beholden to Western interests.

No clue who Ritter is. I'm not posting Macgregor because I think he's the gospel of truth in this conflict but because I think he provides a decent narrative of how the conflict in Ukraine in going. So far what this guy has been saying about this conflict has been happening. Russia has demonstrated clear restraint in this war against Ukraine they are not looking for all out conflict like the talking heads in the media are presenting.

I really don't care about Ritter, this is the second time you brought him up. The geopolitcal commentary bubble is massive enough where I don't have to care too much about one person, considering there are thousands of people with an internet connection ready to opine on any range of topics on their Youtube channel. That I haven't come across Ritter is inconsequential. I'm not going to pretend I gave a fuck about slav politics before this invasion. I only started paying attention to this when the invasion was starting years ago, but after looking into it did I come to the conclusion that NATO has been deliberately pushing Russia's buttons on Ukraine until this outcome came about. Considering that Merkel, Hollande, and even Zelensky have all come out now saying that it was never their intention to follow the Minsk deals and that the purpose of the deal was to buy time to arm Ukraine which Russia has been completely against for decades now. So despite knowing what Russia's red lines were the US (because for all intents and purposes NATO is the US) decided to keep sending arms regardless. For a historical equivalent, the US almost went to war in the 60's with Russia all because they wanted to prop up some missiles on Cuba, and supported wars all over Latin America, Africa, and Asia trying to root out Russian communism from taking root in any of their countries. To say Russia as a super-power isn't allowed to be interested in the affairs and government of the neighbor it shares a border with is you being incredibly disingenuous. Ukraine has effectively been on life-support almost immediately after the invasion started, if it cannot defend itself from invasion, why did it even bother inviting this reaction from Russia? For what purpose are we wasting so many precious resources trying to keep it alive? How long will we keep doing this? Like I said earlier in the thread, about a third of their population has left. They are experiencing rolling blackouts daily, they are consuming more ammo than we are able to resupply them with, the tanks they're begging us for won't come until the end of the year, they effectively have no money (Russia controls the parts of their land that actually generated income for them), they have no manufacturing capability, their people are beginning to starve, how long are we going to keep forcing them to fight in this war?I looked at Anders page, and his first post is about how the US blowing up the Nordstream pipeline is Russian disinfo, and that the US decision to ignore Russia's accusations is actually a super intelligent move meant to counter this disinfo. But that this unfortunately lets in conspiracy theories. Hard disagree. Next is a post about giving the Ukrainians fighter jets, and how they need them in the fight against Russia. By the time they get fighter jets and people trained on how to use them, will they even any airports to launch them from? Do they have any now? Russia still has several hundred of their fighter jets still from my understanding, this is just like the tank discussion going on. When we send over fighter jets how many will we send? 10? 30? Against several hundred? Sending the planes and then sending trained pilots that can use the planes is at least a two year process. Are you really going to hope that the Ukrainians can survive this bloody massacre for 2 more years and force them to keep fighting until then? Interesting solution to the problem.I can go on but Anders timeline sucks and he just seems like some book nerd who reads a ton of military history and then goes on to get employed by the same people who get us into forever wars in the Middle East. They use the line "if we don't stop the dictator in their home country then they're going to go out and conquer the world". Me personally, I am tired of this line of thinking. It didn't work and wasn't true for the last 30 years, why is this time going to be any different? You probably don't care, because you seem to have a hard-on for massacres and pointless wars, but recently some neo-cons gathered together to discuss the situation in Ukraine and used the same terminology you see the mainstream media use to justify this war. That the Ukrainians are fighting for the rights of small states everywhere to remain sovereign and for territorial borders to remain insolvent and that this is also now an existential war around the world for democratic societies to claim the right to exist. What utter bullshit. These people then said that Russia is such a threat to the world order that they need to be squashed so hard that they won't even think about coming back up and trying something like this for another 10 years at least, and then they want to pivot to China. It's insane. Anyone who doesn't take the position of anti-interventionism in this war I am automatically disregarding as an intelligent source. Last point I'll make, our entire gambit with Ukraine seems to rest on the belief that Russia is too bitchmade to use nukes. Because we haven't yet gotten to that point we can and will keep supplying Ukraine with heavier and heavier ammunition little by little so that Russia doesn't get angry with the US if we just went all in and just gave them everything. At what point do we draw the line in assistance? How far should the Ukrainians be willing to fight to prevent a Russian victory?
