@rlier23 here's the FLAC copy I bought on Bandcamp, squeezed a little more lossless compression out of, and repackaged into an ogg container because Pleroma doesn't like FLAC (or at least it didn't at the time). This file also has all the yummy metadata. :puniko_yummy:fluffy_tail.oga

Yea, my stuff is a mix of friend's CD wallets I've ripped, torrents/pirating, bandcamp and CDs I bought at shows, bars and random street buskers. There's probably a good amount in there that doesn't exist on streaming services. All the new stuff is in FLAC but there is plenty of stuff from my mp3 ripping and ogg ripping eras .. probably some m4a and wav files too.

@djsumdog @theorytoe @rlier23 @sjw I don’t have wav anymore because I put them all in flac but I have at least one album in SunAudio (*.au) for some reason and I’ve yet to find a good tool to do a good conversion to flac (it’s the raw audio format of NeXT/Sun/… machines).

@phoenix It does but I don't trust ffmpeg for lossless, specially as last time I tried it for au→flac it changed the format from 8bit PCM to 16bit PCM so I couldn't then do flac→au to be sure of it being lossless.Note: Spinning rust to find files among a pile of others isn't fast.

@lanodan @phoenix Neither our flac encoder nor encoder supports outputting 8-bit PCM, only 16 upwards.The codec itself doesn't care about bit depth, it encodes bits until there are no bits left, so decoders and encoders are free to pick whatever they like, as long as no trimming is done.

@lanodan @phoenix We don't support lossless decoding of 24 bit flac files either by that logic, since we have no 24-bit sample format, only 32-bits, where the LSBs are padding.
