So we've got #KeirStarmer telling #socialists to leave the #LabourParty if un-happy.He's parroting nationalist slogans in Ukraine used when Ukrainian nationalists and Nazi collaborators were murdering 100,000s of Poles and Jews. These were the people our grandfathers were fighting against! He's telling CLP members who can't be their parliamentary candidate in some top-down Stalinist fashion. It's really really hard to keep paying my Direct Debit for this shit.#socialism #corbyn #labour

@paul I have to say that I'm having trouble comparing Starmer's speech to the murder of 100,000 Poles.

@gruff would you feel the same way to someone going around saying "ein volk ein reich ein führer?"That's exactly the same as people saying "Слава Україні".If you don't make the same connection its because you don't know much about OUN and other Ukrainian nationalist groups.

@paul I'm not sure how I would feel with someone saying those things, I speak neither language.I'm just struggling to see the the connection to Starmer telling people to join the Greens, Plaid or SNP etc. if they want a party that is more to left. (I think that was the gist of what he was saying)

@gruff if Starmer wants a party more to the right he can join Liberal Democrats, Change UK (if they're still around) or Reform UK.The Labour Party as per its name is the party of labour. It's leader should not be an establishment stooge and he shouldn't be going around repeating nationalist slogans.

@paul But he's the democratically elected leader of that party and he will say he is just doing what he was elected to do. There are a number of other parties that do not make the pretence of being 'pro-establishment' , but I suppose that a few of them are 'nationalist' too (SNP & Plaid for example).

@gruff the democratically elected leader should not be a dictator with absolute power to tell members who their candidates can be and what policy is.This is decided by the membership and cannot be centralised into the leaders office.Any such attempt is against party rules and he should be expelled if found guilty.

@paul Um. Luckily, Labour say they take complaints very seriously. Maybe this is worth a shot? https://labour.org.uk/complaints/making-a-complaint/
