@stopgopfox ...and the pseudo-left wonders why it's losing ground with Black and Brown voters. smdh. Taking a stand against racist attacks isn't something one does out of partisan loyalty. Refraining to take that stand while claiming to promote 'equity' is hypocritical and self-defeating. It's not about Coulter - it's about you. If you feel a need to think about it strategically rather than just as a human - Coulter's ilk will take a challenge of her bs as 'support' for Hayley which, in turn, fuels their internal battle. But sure - go hypocritical. That's worked well so far. 😒

@kayvee2262 Perhaps if we flip the script, I could ask you what makes you the voice of black and brown voters. Haley has made a career out of defending positions that hurt many people of color, so I honestly don't know what those communities feel is appropriate. Do they love the sight of liberals rushing to defend a life-long racist? I can't say.Overall, racism and politics are complex topics. Thinking about them from different perspectives means you consider the opinions of others.

@kayvee2262 I certainly agree with you that challenging racism and do so on a regular basis. The reason I asked the original question is this is a unique situation with lots of angles to think about. Coulter has an agenda and likely put such a racist attack out there for a reason. I wanted to know what people thought was the right way to approach what is probably Coulter baiting the left.

So she's hoping Democrats rush in like white knights to defend Haley, thus letting Coulter say Haley had to be defended like some weakling.If we don't do anything, though, Coulter can call us hypocrites. Since Coulter has no shame, she's fine with either option.But honestly, doing nothing here seems like it rewards Coulter the least for being an absolute scumbag.

@stopgopfox I am definitely the second. Here is whyHailey has spent her political life identifying as a white woman, and she even said that America is NOT a racist country. I am not a little bit concerned for her because I remember pleading with her to take a strong stand against racism. She never did! She always believed that she was immune because she passes for a white woman.

@stopgopfox Honestly - I wasn't really responding to your question - I thought it was fair to ask/think about that. It was more the thread of responses that illustrate what I think has been a huge problem if we're interested in actually fostering positive change and engaging those whose lives are most impacted by current conditions and by that potential change.Hayley, Coulter, and the Magafolk are NOT the audience. Ever. They don't care what we say or think about them except to the extent that they can use it to build energy on their side. The audience is ALWAYS folks who support a liberal/progressive/radical (choose your adventure) agenda and our choices (regardless of whether it's as a D partisan or a more leftie organizing perspective) should be driven by how they impact and are received by that audience. Some choices feed the emotional energy among folks who are already going to vote for certain candidates (which is where almost all of the responses fell), some encourage or discourage those who share our core values and support the same agenda - but since they so often see what they experience as hypocrisy from the most vocal partisans and so seldom see alignment between values, policy, practice and advocacy, they do not trust the left to support change that will actually keep them and their children alive and ensure they have equitable opportunity to flourish. It can be even MORE problematic to feel that distrust among people who seem to "get it" (who use the right words, tag themselves #antiracist in their posts, etc.) than from folks who are just ignorant.

@kayvee2262 That is very true about the distrust hurting worse from people who claim to know better. Sometimes because these issues are so frustrating, I try to make posts that let people blow off steam so we all don't burn out. If any issue or story about race isn't getting coverage, let me know and I always look to amplify and believe everyone else will too.Fostering a positive change as you described is the ultimate goal here and it's important to make sure things work towards that.
