That book hasn't been refuted, but the author and publishers have been the subject of arrests and other exercises of hard power so I guess that's good enough for you. For example, the prussian blue talking point isn't a claim, it's a refutation of the claim that the gas chambers at aushwitz used zyklon B to mass murder hundreds of thousands of Jews. If this were the case, the chemical reaction known as "prussian blue" would've been found on the brick/concrete in the chambers. Samples were anonymously sent to labs in the US of both claimed delousing chambers (ie, *not* homicidal gas chambers) and claimed homicidal gas chambers. The delousing rooms had the chemical reaction and the blue pigment it causes, while the alleged homicidal gas chambers did not.Again, this is purely testing existing claims. They can't stand up to any kind of investigation like this.

But to answer a modified version of your question, “Why did you post this book?”, the answer is that it’s a book that takes an in-depth look at the arguments and claims typically made by holocaust deniers, and in a calm and measured way refutes those claims pretty effectively.The authors do try to explain why (they think) you believe what you do, but that’s also why I think it would be a good book for you to read anyways.

I have talked with holocaust deniers many times over the years and a lot of their claims when you track them down and interrogate them, disintegrate like tissue paper. when you walk the person through why the meme is provably wrong or just didn't successfully make the case it was trying to make, they just immediately move to another argument until you give up in exasperation. and then a week later you see them use the same argument again that you walked through them with and demonstrated was bullshit. so i just don't bother anymore unless it's to shit on michael shermer, who is definitely, by legal definition, a holocaust denier and therefore should be jailed.

That’s why when I debate people on AGW, I always push them to the IPCC reports, because I know that the vast majority of what’s in there can withstand careful scrutiny.So can Shermer’s book, by the way, which is why these clowns are going to ad hom and deflection when presented with it.

You have to go waaaaay back to when the field was young and computing power was very limited to find projections that were considered credible but were off by any real margin.For example, the Mann report from 35 years ago ended up slightly over-estimating the strength of the warming effect, but he acknowledged in the report that there were still uncertainties (that I forget the specifics of, but you can go read the report if you’re curious about those specifics), so it’s not like he was being misleading about the reliability of it.
