Last night I went through the Delta Chat serverguide and set up a dedicated mail server. I can finally throw things like whatsapp away since I can just hand out accounts to my friends and have them move as well. #deltachat #federate #email #community

@rtn tried it as well, but I couldn't get nginx to work, it kept resetting the config file. I mean adding tokens worked via the bot, but then I couldn't create a new account. The endpoint /new_email just timed out. After a few attempts I gave up. Any idea what I did wrong? @delta

@michal @rtn hm, have you seen the troubleshooting documentation under https://mailadm.readthedocs.io/en/latest/#testing-the-web-app ? hard to say from here what exactly is the problem.And it sounds like you maybe edited the nginx config in the wrong location, which file did you edit? which command resets it?

@rtn @delta I think I followed the current guide (just a few days ago). I sorta gave up for now. If I come back for this project I'll surely ask for help on the forum. Thank you for quick response ✌🏻

@michal This is likely caused by the firewall setup. We have currently removed it from the guide: https://github.com/deltachat/deltachat-pages/commit/b73fb267f2f28cf7d9dad3e3f8968041d8e19021It is not critical to have it, so you can try to disable it and see if things works.@rtn

@delta @rtn BTW, is Mailadm used to create only temporary accounts? Is it possible to add permanent accounts this way?

@michal You can set "expiry" to "never" for the token, and it will create permanent accounts.@rtn
