There seems to be two camps on $PBR; Doomsayers convinced the company will kill dividends and wreck the business.vs Hopeful believers, sure the crazy yield will continue unabated. Its clear the future is somewhere in the middle, but the stock is priced for armageddon./1

It's not as good or bad as the market thinks. Sometimes a higher level, broader view without going into the weeds of every figure, the politics and policies can provide us with a more realistic picture of the most likely outcome. So what do we know?/2

We know Lula didn't destroy the company last time. During his previous term, the stock price actually went up. He's also hamstrung by a parliament he doesn't control.Sure, taxes may rise, PBR will spend more on ESG, domestic subsidies, and unneeded projects./3

But they are still producing a sh!t tonne of oil (technical term) and developing more. Plus we're in all likelihood entering an oil super-cycle after years of under-investment.Will the dividend be cut, yes. Will short term earnings drop with the pullback in oil price, yes. /4

But is $PBR still one of the largest and most chronically undervalued oil majors in the world? Yes.Throw some money down the drain to the renewable and ESG gods, increase some taxes and also slash the dividend by 75% and we're still in double-digit yield./5

It's still an oil major valued less than almost all comparables, growing reserves, expanding prod'n & reducing total cost of oil + spitting out income.I'm happy to park funds in $PBR for the future. It doesn't need perfection and sooner or later the market will wake up.END
