#latimes : Pronoun hysteria is pure MAGA politics, with a side of devastation for vulnerable trans kids'It took me a while to get here, but maybe the way people actually use language is how language ought to be used. Also, maybe how people choose to be identified is how we should identify them. In the newsroom, we used to call this the Muhammad Ali rule: If Cassius Clay wishes to be called Muhammad Ali, then that is what we will call him."s what we will call him."https://archive.ph/kJ7aZhttps://www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2023-02-15/trans-kids-gender-identity-pronouns-kentucky#TransRights are #HumanRights #TransRightsAreHumanRights

@SrRochardBunson "Please call me Muhammed, since I've changed religion.""Please call me Francis, since I've become Pope.""Please call me Jane Brown, since I married Bob Brown.""Please call me Rock Hudson, on advice of my agent.""Please call me Chris, since I never could stand my first name.""Please call me Angela, because I'm actually a woman."Never have been able to figure out why only the last of those is too hard for some people to do. #TransRights

@three_star_dave @SrRochardBunson If you think "only the last of those" is "too hard for some people" then you don't know too many people.

@SrRochardBunson As I head to bed tonight, this reply is sitting at 161 faves, 112 boosts, by far the biggest "impact" I've ever had on Mastodon.Which ... means a lot to me. Not for the egoboo, but because my son is #trans, and I love him, and I see that support as support for *him*, and for a world where he doesn't have to worry about people misgendering or deadnaming him to make "a point," but is instead politely accepted for who he *is*.Thanks.
