#GeorgiaInvestigation Here is judge's order releasing part of the Fulton County special grand jury report.https://www.fultonclerk.org/DocumentCenter/View/1690/SPGJ--JURYS-FINAL-REPORTTomorrow part of the report will be released. Meanwhile, some background:A special grand jury is different from a regular grand jury: The special GJ is an investigative tool; the DA makes the charging decision. After months hearing testimony from dozens of witnesses, the special grand jury issued a report and recommended that it be published.1/

Judge McBurney (Fulton superior court) heard arguments on whether the report should be released.DA Willis and a collection of media interests submitted arguments. The media wanted it all released. Willis wanted it redacted to protect the due process rights of potential defendants. She also said charging decisions were "imminent." She didn't want the report released until she's ready to bring charges. The full report contains recommendations about who should and shouldn't be indicted.2/

That's what we really want to know but we won't find out. The judge held that the final report should not yet be disclosed, although parts may now be published consistent with protecting the due process rights of all involved. We will get introduction, the conclusion, and section VIII, in which the GJ discussed its concern that some witnesses may have lied under oath during their testimony. Because the grand jury doesn’t identify the witnesses, the section can be published.3/

Willis said she expects the published parts to be redacted. She was also happy with the order and trusts the judge, so I don't expect to learn much. That means what we really want to know, we won't find out until she's ready to announce her charging decisions. However, like everyone else, I will scrutinize the report and search for clues. If anyone is wondering what "imminent" means to a prosecutor, she said charging decisions are imminent 3 weeks ago.4/

@Teri_Kanefield It would be sweet if Trump ends up being taken down for his criming by a Black Woman D.A. That would be especially insulting to Trump's ego.

@Teri_Kanefield Does Willis have a regular Grand Jury sitting now on this? Does this kind of Grand Jury have to hear witnesses all over again, or do they work with transcripts, etc? If the latter, over the past 3 weeks they could have been doing what's needful for the indictments, right?

@DrewKadel Things are different in GA. She makes the decision. The special grand jury indicts. We have 51 jurisdictions: The states and the federal government. Each has separate procedures (although there is a lot of overlap and similarity)

@Teri_Kanefield I notice that Donald Trump is not out in front of cameras with his lawyers claiming he was exonerated, but Matt Gaetz was...

@Teri_Kanefield Yes it is always drag when words like imminent mean what the speaker said, and not what I in some fantasy world would like it to mean. But yes due process so stuff sticks takes work.Gotta leave the appellate lawyers no leg to stand on. (sorry, but I am sure you will in this case agree)Also when the appellate lawyer has no leg to stand on, that means they got it right the first time.

@AlanOutback Correct. All we really do is read the court record hunting for errors. Well, and then we write the briefs. Then we have oral arguments. But no mistakes, no appellate case.
