@rahmstorf As a scientist, of course you're obliged to cite your sources, and thank you for doing so!But speaking for myself as a layperson, it's just intuitively obvious that rising air and sea temperatures will lead to greater evaporation and increased rainfall - as well as more extreme weather events due to there being more energy in the atmosphere.This should be something any intelligent child knows without having to be told, like running into a wall is likely to cause injury.

And the IPCC warned about this in 2007 in the AR4:„Based on a range of models, it is likely that future tropical cyclones will become more intense, with larger peak wind speeds and more heavy precipitation associated with ongoing increases of tropical sea surface temperatures.“

@BarrenPlanet There are intruiging exceptions to the rule.In my region, wind speeds are reducing due to #climate change. Because the major wind-producing region over the Atlantic is moving North because of #seaice loss in the #Arctic, and related changes. The number of days with max windspeeds of 60-90kmh is getting lower by as much as days with 30-60kmh are increasing. See chart here https://mst.mineown.de/@anlomedad/109842297477957034 @rahmstorf
